Walk Descriptions

The Club is modifying how walks are described by using four ‘boot ratings’, each with a description, rather than our current grades that were based mostly on total ascent. We want to give a better indication of what our walks will be like so that members can decide if a walk is appropriate for their abilities and interests. We will consider the following factors: the level of fitness required, the terrain and slopes on the walk, the pace anticipated by the walk leader, and the equipment you will need.
Besides indicating the ‘boot rating’ of a walk, the walk details will give its length and the total ascent, so you can judge how much effort it will take.
